Cost benefits

Cost Benefits of Residential Recovery.

Through engagement in our recovery programme residents will live and work in an enabling community environment which will help them change their attitude and behaviour towards crime, drug taking and misuse of alcohol together with the opportunity of engaging in full-time paid employment to become contributing citizens, paying taxes and move out into independent living. Paid employment is the only way to break the cycle of state dependency on benefits that inevitably leads back to addiction, homelessness and criminality.

Cost benefits to the state include:

  • No longer committing crime
  • No longer claiming benefit
  • No longer a drain on the NHS
  • Positive and continued health and well-being
  • Continued support from our Aftercare team.

Evidence

This is a cost benefits analysis of a small cohort of 10 current residents randomly selected to participate in the exercise. These figures represent the cost to the public purse before coming into the to TLC rehab.
