I started taking heroin when I was about 23 and my life went rapidly out of control. I had tried other drugs before then but nothing as bad as heroin.
Since being involved with Aftercare I have had many obstacles to overcome and at times didn’t feel that I would get past them, with the constant support of the aftercare team I have overcome each and every one of the obstacles that have been put in front of me.
It took a while, but I realised that the drugs are just systemic to my behaviour. My behaviours, thoughts and feelings were convoluted and confused. After 4 months I am able to see and feel a dramatic change in myself.
I was age 13 when I first started to experiment with weed and alcohol, I think this was a way to fit in with my friends.
I no longer look at myself as homeless and look at myself as a member of society. I have a home like anybody else and I have a future – where I didn’t before. I have a meaning to my life now.
